For years, we have wished for a pick-up truck, and Tuesday morning Chesapeake Energy made it a reality.

In a ceremony at the main office, Chesapeake donated a 2006 Ford F-150 from their fleet. The company, which came to northwest Louisiana to develop the Haynesville Shale natural gas field, has made several similar donations.

“We consider ourselves family members,” said Kevin McCotter, Chesapeake’s Senior Director of Corporate Development, Haynesville Shale. “We believe in corporate and social responsibility.”

Here at Volunteers of America we often find ourselves needing a truck to move equipment or work on landscaping between our 20 locations, and this donation will make those jobs significantly easier.

With a big grin, CEO Chuck Meehan had a chance to crank up the truck for the first time.

“The donation of the pick-up truck is a blessing for Volunteers of America,” CEO Chuck Meehan said. “Now rather than spending scarce resources on rental costs we can use our monies on direct services to people in need.”
