18th Annual Partners in Literacy Spelling Bee
When: 6pm – Thursday, June 13, 2013
Where: Pineville Community Center, 708 Main Street, Pineville, LA
Registration: $500 per team, corporate teams, civic groups, clubs, etc are encouraged to participate in this team spelling bee.
Why: To help us fill our gap. Each year Volunteeers of America of North Louisiana serves more than 2,500 men, women and children in our programs for people with disabilities and children and families. This year, the gap between funding we can count on from government and United Way and actual program costs is $86,000. Partners in Literacy is the only program in the Central Louisiana area that offers adults over the age of 18 the opportunity to learn to read and at no cost to the student. Your participation in this event will insure up to 25 adults will get the opportunity to learn to read or learn English as a second language in the upcoming year.
What you can expect: A fun time for any that love word challenges and a great competition. This is an adult spelling bee with teams of three competing to be number one. Up to 15 teams will compete against each other in rounds, a list of the competition words will be provided for each team.
